Who are we?
Broadreach is an independent investment and corporate finance house that was established in 2014. We have a particular focus on businesses that have a positive impact on their physical or social environments. Our own investments are in the renewable energy sector, but we have also partnered with entrepreneurs in other industries to help them develop new opportunities.
What do we do?
We bring our team members’ combined finance, tax, legal and engineering skills together to help grow businesses and deliver returns,
both for our investors, ourselves and for advisory clients. We do this by investing in, raising capital for, and growing our own businesses, and by partnering with others to help them do the same. We also provide corporate finance services to select clients, often with the same goals in mind.
We target businesses that address social and environmental needs in a progressive way - not only because we feel good doing so, but because we believe that addressing these needs makes a sound investment thesis.
Our renewable energy business is where we enjoy spending most of our time. We have started and built our own “IPP” (independent power producer) that develops, owns and operates renewable energy plants. We have invested our own capital alongside that of our investors into this business, and aim to continue growing it into a substantial player in the alternative, green energy industry.
We have also formed close relationships with entrepreneurs in the education and impact finance sectors, where our corporate finance, capital raising and investment banking expertise can be brought to bear.
Finally, we also advise clients on a range of their own corporate finance related matters, such as raising capital, BBBEE transactions and in the acquisition and disposal of businesses.
How can we work together?

St John Bungey
Executive Director (CFA Charterholder)
St.John’s career spans 25 years in financial services. His roles have ranged across stockbroking, banking and asset management, with a predominant focus on emerging and frontier markets. Recently, this has been mostly in the private debt and equity arena, with an emphasis on impact and responsible investments. St.John is passionate about financial markets and investing, and believes strongly that asset managers can make a difference both as the custodians of capital, and through the impact of how that capital is directed.
Since joining Broadreach in an executive capacity, St.John has been engaged in corporate finance mandates and business development in the renewable energy sector. In 2018 St.John and his family undertook a year's sabbatical of which 11 months were spent traveling. Heading west around the globe, the trip covered in excess of 80,000km, through 27 countries, with pauses in most of the world’s major wine regions.
